Sam Alvey Talks About His Middleweight Title Shot At MFC 36
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Sam Alvey (19-4) talked about his upcoming middleweight title fight against champion Elvis Mutapcic (12-2) at MFC 36: Reality Check.
This fight comes after he was cut from season 16 of The Ultimate Fighter. MFC 36 will take place at the Shaw Conference Center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main card airs on AXS TV with a main event of Mukai Maromo vs. Graham Spencer for the promotion’s vacant lightweight title.
On the progression of his career: “I’ve been rising through the ranks. I got onto ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ and it didn’t go the way I wanted it to. But prior to the show, I had three or four big KOs.”
On his training schedule: “I’m always ready, always training year round. I don’t do special camps (to prepare for specific fighters). I was helping Tarec Saffiedine for his fight, Dan Henderson for his, Jesse Taylor’s in there. I’m always ready.”
On what he expects from his fight: “I’m expecting him to want to hit me. He’s got a lot of 30-second or minute knockouts. I’m expecting him to hit me, but I think he’s going to try to keep me honest with some wrestling. He works with a lot of wrestlers, and I’ve got to be willing to sprawl.”
