Sara McMann Looking For Rematches With Miesha Tate & Ronda Rousey

– Sara McMann (9-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) spoke with mmajunkie.com following her UFC Fight Night 88 victory over Jessica Eye. Here are the highlights…

On Her Victory Over Jessica Eye: “It’s not the amount of action that I typically enjoy in a fight,” McMann said. “Even as a wrestler, I like a high pace. I like a lot of things going on. But for this fight, since Jessica and I had already trained several times together, it was more of a chess match. This wasn’t the first time we were exposed to each other’s strengths and weaknesses. So both of us were trying to feint, to be selective, to get in and get the things that we wanted and get out.”

On Wanting to Fight Miesha Tate Again: “The reason why I wanted a title shot against (current champ Miesha Tate) was because our first fight was so exciting and so close. I did really good damage on the feet, I got takedowns, and I think you take that fight and I make a couple of changes, I’m the winner of that fight. “It’s nice being neck-and-neck with the No. 1 girl, and I’m just chomping at the bit. I wish I had a more exciting fight, but when someone is being strategic and is backing out more, it’s hard to press the action without walking into a hard strike. I’m an exciting fighter if somebody wants to get in there and bang with me, but I’ve also grown to be patient, selective and intelligent about that.”

On a Possible Rematch With Ronda Rousey: “Absolutely,” McMann said. “I wanna fight all the girls I lost to, I freaking hate losing. And I want to fight them all. But I’d rather fight the champ first. Then the other girls can line up, and I’ll beat them. They can say, ‘I beat her before. I deserve a title shot.’ I say, ‘Bring it. I’d love to avenge that loss.’ I’m 35. I’ve been doing this for seven years. I’ve been doing grappling or wrestling for 16 years before that. I have the tools. I have what it takes.”
