Sara McMann’s Manager Says They Were Not Offered Ronda Rousey Fight

December 7, 2012 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Sara McMann’s manager Monte Cox recently spoke with MMAjunkie about rumors that McMann had been offered a fight against Ronda Rousey in the UFC. Check out the highlights:

On the rumored offer: “Our contract says she is still with Strikeforce. We never got that phone call. So, I don’t know where this is all coming from.”

On whether the fight would have been a good idea for UFC 157: “The McMann-Rousey fight has the potential to be the biggest fight in women’s history. Two American Olympic medalists – one from judo, the other from wrestling, both undefeated in both amateur and professional competition, neither having ever broken the rules. Rousey has put herself out there, made herself famous with her performances and personality. McMann has a great story and needs to be promoted by the Zuffa publicity machine in order for the fight reach its full potential. This fight needs to be promoted properly, not just thrown together because there’s an opening on the card.”
