Sergio Pettis Says Ryan Benoit Loss Helped Him Learn to Love MMA

October 4, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Sergio Pettis spoke with MMAjunkie about his win over Chris Cariaso at UFC 192 and more. Check out the highlights:

On the early part of his career: “Early on, I had pressure on me in the fights. I had to live up to a standard. I felt like I had to live up to Anthony’s name, and I was only 20 at the time. I didn’t know how to deal with the pressure. So, for my first couple fights, I was very tense. I didn’t know to deal with it. There were cameras. It was all new. The crowd was new. We had Burt (Watson) in the corner screaming, hyping me up. That was all new for me.”

On learning from his loss to Ryan Benoit: “I’m finding myself. After my last fight, I realized how much I love this sport. I got knocked out. That didn’t make me want to quit. It made me want to keep going, to get better.”
