Tito Ortiz vs. Chael Sonnen Won’t Be at Bellator 165

September 26, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Tito Ortiz will not meet Chael Sonnen at Bellator 165 despite what Sonnen claimed. Scott Coker and Ortiz spoke today (via MMAjunkie) about the fight, which does not have an exact date set and will likely take place early next year. Some highlights are below:

Coker on Tito Ortiz vs. Chael Sonnen not taking place at Bellator 165: “I think it deserves to be its own card. We just don’t want to rush it.”

Ortiz on not fighting this year: “Chael called me out (for Nov. 19). I’m the one who calls the shots – not him. We’ll fight in January. We’re not going to fight in November. I’m gonna give him some time to get used to being at his weight, off of steroids, so he can train through that time. I’m calling the shots, not Chael Sonnen. Yeah, he talks well, yeah he does his thing. But no, this is my weight class. I’m the one who calls the shots. Tito Ortiz is gonna call the shots. Chael Sonnen is going to have to wait until after the first of the year.”
