Travis Brown Says Cain Velasquez Is The Toughest UFC Heavyweight

May 2, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Fighting, Travis Browne said that Cain Velasquez is still the toughest fighter in the UFC heavyweight division. The two meet on July 9 at UFC 200 in Las Vegas. Here are highlights:

On Cain Velasquez: “Cain ran the division for years. He’s arguably still the best heavyweight. There’s situations that came up in his last fight, altitude and stuff like that. He had to learn the hard way. But I feel like he’s right there. He’s still the toughest guy. So it means everything to me. To me, this is almost my title shot.”

On if beating Cain gets him the title shot: “I don’t think just a win over Cain will cement me the title shot. I have to go out there and perform and make it a show. Perform and come out on top. There’s so many moving parts to it. It’s a huge platform, huge stage to be on. There’s gonna be so many eyes on you.”

On his loss to Fabricio Werdum: “It’s amazing what happens when you get your ass kicked, what it will do for you motivational wise. He beat me. Until then, I’d never really been beaten by anybody.”
