UPDATED: UFC 204 Gets a New Opener for Main PPV Card

UPDATE: Well that fell apart quickly. MMAjunkie reports Kennedy seemingly being ready to step in to face Mirsad Bektic at UFC 204, now Kennedy is apparently injured and not ready to take the fight. The UFC is now in need of another last-minute replacement fighter to face Bektic in the main card opener at UFC 204.

A UFC official confirmed today that Kennedy has been forced off the card because of an undisclosed injury.

ORIGINAL: MMAjunkie reports that Jeremy Kennedy is set to replace the injured Arnold Allen against Mirsad Bektic at UFC 204. The fight will serve as the new opener for the main PPV card of the event.

Allen was recently forced to withdraw from the, and Kennedy has stepped in as a result. Kennedy is undefeated in MMA at 9-0, and he is 1-0 in the UFC.

UFC 204 is set for October 8 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card will be broadcast live on PPV. Prelims will be shown on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
