UFC News: UFC/WEC Merger, TNA Wrestling Causes UFC Name Change, More

-There is currently a plan in place to merge the middleweight and light heavyweight fighters from the WEC into the UFC by the end of the year. WEC would continue to have bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight divisions.

-Gray Maynard vs. Rich Clementi has been confirmed for UFC 90 on October 25 in Chicago.

-Stephan Bonnar is expected to be back in December or January after recovering from knee surgery.

-The UFC’s Jon Koppenhaver has legally changed his name to “War Machine” thanks to a threatened lawsuit from TNA wrestling which prohibited the UFC from referring to Koppenhaver as “War Machine”. The following was posted on his myspace:

“Turns out some gay ass wrestling federation threatened to sue them because they recently named one of their wrestlers The War Machine Rhino and trademarked the name. If you know my personality than you know damn well I am not gonna let some faggot ass fake wrestler steal my name.”
