Viktor Pesta Knows He Can Take A Punch

October 3, 2015 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Viktor Pesta (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) spoke about his heavyweight fight with Derrick Lewis (12-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC), which will open UFC 192. It streams on UFC Fight Pass before preliminary fights on FOX Sports 1 and the main card on PPV. It airs from the Toyota Center in Houston. Here are highlights:

On his win over Konstantin Erokhin at UFC on FOX 14 in January: “I took a lot of punches. It wasn’t that exciting of a fight. But I took hard punches in the beginning, so it was difficult to do spectacular things. I know (now) it’s good to keep my hands up and not get hit so much.”

On his fight tonight with Lewis: “He’s a pretty tough guy, but not technical compared to my last fight. He’s bigger than me – a lot taller and heavier. But his cardio won’t be that good, and he won’t be that quick. He hits hard, but a lot of guys in the heavyweight division hit hard, so I’m not afraid of it. And I’ve already proven I can take a punch.”
