November 28, 2015 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Yoshihiro Akiyama (14-6 MMA, 2-6 UFC) said he’s not sure about his MMA future at this time. He lost by split decision to Alberto Mina (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 79. Here are highlights:

On if he’ll fight again: “I haven’t thought about that issue. I’ll just take a good sleep first and think about that later on.”

On his fight with Mina: “I got knocked down during the second round, and I felt that it might not work the way I wanted it to be. There were so many Korean fans that were cheering for me that it helped me to stand up again for the second round. That actually gave me the courage and the power to fight for the third round. During the third round, all the cheers from the Korean fans also encouraged me a lot, and I’d like to thank the Korean fans for giving me such a wonderful time and happy moment.”

On his UFC future: “Of course, the result is the result, but I really had a very happy time. As for the UFC contract, I don’t know how it will turn out.”
