Yves Edwards Says Lina Lansberg Needs To Rely On Muay Thai Against Cyborg

September 24, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, UFC commentator Yves Edwards spoke about what it will take for Lina Lansberg (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) to beat Cristiane Justino (16-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) tonight at UFC Fight Night 95 in a 140-pound catchweight bout. Here are highlights:

On how Lansberg could beat the favorite: “She’s got a lot of muay Thai experience, and the last fight Cris lost was a muay Thai fight. I think Lina is going to try to play this fight out in a muay Thai style; she’s going to try to avoid the takedowns, the wrestling and the ground game and try to work the clinch and striking from the outside. But is she going to be able to use that effectively against Cris?”

On the pressure on Cyborg: “I didn’t have all the pressure that a woman like ‘Cyborg’ has going into this. But she’s been a consummate professional. And ever since (that loss), she’s been dominant. I don’t know if fighting at home is going to be a big deal for her out of the gate. Now, if she starts run into some problems from Lansberg, then all the pressure may start to pile on her and start to make her shrink up as far as being aggressive and be the woman she is when it’s time to step into the octagon. But we get to see that. We’ll find out in the first round. If this fight goes past the first round, the look on (Justino’s) face at the end of that is going to show her confidence. It’s going to show worry. And if it shows worry, the live betting should change a lot, right away.”
