Bryan Cranston Wants to Play Mr. Sinister
Bryan Cranston has doubled down on his interest in playing a Marvel villain. After he recently said that he would like to create a new hero from scratch and make it a “nasty” one, Cranston revealed at a panel for his new show SuperMansion at NYCC (via IGN) that he does have an existing Marvel villain in mind: Mister Sinister.
After mentioning Sinister, Cranston asked the audience, “What do you think?” The site reports that the crowd unsurprisingly “went wild” at the idea.
Mr. Sinister is perhaps the most famous of the X-Men’ villains to not be featured on screen to date or in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Creatred by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri, Sinister first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #221 in 1987. Born Nathaniel Essex in Victorian London, he was a scientist who became obsessed with the theories of Charles Darwin but took them to disturbing extremes in his experiments. He eventually awakened the dormant Apocalypse, who mutated him into a superpowered and essentially ageless villain who has displayed superhuman strength and durability, a regenerative healing factor, telepathy and shapeshifting powers, among others.
