Mark Ruffalo Claims Another Standalone Movie for The Hulk Will “Never Happen”

Variety recently spoke to Marvel Cinematic Universe star Mark Ruffalo, who once again reinforced that a new solo movie for the Hulk will never happen. Ruffalo addressed the subject after the extended trailer reel for Avengers: Infinity War debuted at this weekend’s D23 Expo 2017 in Anaheim, California.

Ruffalo stated, “I just want to make one thing perfectly clear. A standalone Hulk movie will never happen.” The last standalone Hulk movie was The Incredible Hulk, which was released by Universal Pictures in 2008. The reason the film cannot happen anytime soon is because Universal still has a claim on Hulk’s film rights. Ruffalo added, “For some reason, they don’t know how to play well with Marvel. They don’t want to make money.”

Ruffalo will next appear as the character in Thor: Ragnarok due out this November 3. He will also appear in The Avengers: Infinity War due out in May 2018.
