Upcoming Matrix Movie Could be Prequel Exploring Young Morpheus
According to a report by BirthMoviesDeath, Warner Bros. is interested in exploring other parts of The Matrix universe rather than a “reboot” for the original franchise. One of the ideas is reportedly a film that would explore young Morpheus in the world of the original trilogy.
The idea that’s reportedly gained a lot of support is the Young Morpheus prequel, with Michael B. Jordan apparently as the desired star to play a younger version of Morpheus. The concept has apparently been favored by Warner Bros. for quite some time. Additionally, the studio has started a writer’s room for the franchise, and the Young Morpheus project is only one of several ideas that’s being discussed.
In the original trilogy, Laurence Fishburne portrayed Morpheus, the captain of the Nebuchadnezzar and the mentor for Neo. In the film series, humanity is locked in a bitter civil war against machines who have taken over the Earth and enslaved humanity, keeping their personalities locked in a virtual reality program called “the Matrix.”
