Billboard reports that Adele’s “Skyfall” and Taylor Swift’s “Safe and Sound” (from The Hunger Games) have both been nominated for Golden Globes for Best Original Song. Other nominees include Jon Bon Jovi’s “Not Running Anymore” (from Stand Up Guys), Keith Urban’s “For You” (from Act of Valor) and “Suddenly” from Les Miserables.

Adele released “Skyfall” on October 5 and it became her first single to debut in the top ten of the Hot 100, peaking at #8. It was co-written with Paul Epworth and has sold 1.9 million copies in the US.

Swift’s song “Safe and Sound” both features and was co-written by Joy Williams and John Paul White of The Civil Wars, along with T-Bone Burnett. It peaked at #30 on the Hot 100 and sold 1.4 million copies. It was also nominated for two Grammys last week, including Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Bon Jovi won the award in 1991 for “Blaze of Glory”. The film for which his new song is included, Stand Up Guys stars Al Pacino and Christopher Walken as former gangsters. It also has another song by Bon Jovi, called “Old Habits Die Hard”. He said last month: “If you count the demos. I recorded these songs four times.

Urban wrote “For You” with his usual collaborator Monty Powell. It peaked at #6 on Country Songs and sold 445,000 copies in the US.

The song “Suddenly” from Les Miserables was written by Claude-Michel Schonberg (music) and Herbert Kretzmer (lyrics). The film itself has four nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Actor (Hugh Jackman) and Best Supporting Actress (Anne Hathaway).

The award for Best Score includes Life of Pi (Mychael Danna), Argo (Alexandre Desplat), Anna Karenina (Dario Marianelli), Cloud Atlas (Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek, Reinhold Heil), and Lincoln (John Williams).
