Adele’s Bond Theme Facing Tough Fight For UK #1

October 10, 2012 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Adele may not hit #1 this week on the UK charts with her James Bond theme. Billboard reports that midweek data from the Official Charts Company suggests that Adele is currently behind Swedish House Mafia’s new song “Don’t You Worry Child” for the top spot. As of last night, Swedish House Mafia has 74,000 copies sold to Adele’s 52,000. Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” which was #1 last week, is in third place.

While Adele has been a huge success in both the UK and across the world, she only has one UK #1 to date, “Someone Like You.” “Skyfall” debuted at #4 on this week’s chart with only two days of sales, and it looks as if that split may have cost it the #1 spot. Interestingly, no James Bong theme has ever topped the UK charts, though Duran Duran’s “A View To a Kill” came close at #2.
