Amy Lee of Evanescence Being Targeted By Hacker Group Anonymous
NME reports that Amy Lee of Evanescence is being targeted by online hacking group Anonymous. The hacker group has accused Lee of preventing a witness from reporting child pornography and other online offenses.
The group has been trying to uncover shady online activity in a new operation called “Operation PedoChat” and Lee and her manager Andrew Lurie have made their list. The allegation centers around Sam Smith, a user on the Evanescence fan forum site EvThreads, possibly being forced to sign a contract that prevented him from reporting offenses on the site that included drug offenses and the publication of indecent sexual images including “sexual offences against a physically disabled male minor and cartoons with pre-teens in lawful poses but with sexualised captions, including sexual activity with animals and one caption regarding a toddler consuming human faeces.”
The fan site has been closed down at the request of the band’s management.
Anonymous plans to picket the band’s November UK arena tour.
