Amy Winehouse Death Inquiry To Be Heard Again
Billboard reports that officials in London say the last inquest into the death of Amy Winehouse was handled by a coroner who lacked the proper qualifications. The Camden Council has said a new hearing will happen on January 8.
Winehouse was found dead in her London home in July 2011 at the age of 27. An October 2011 inquest found the cause of death to be accidental alcohol poisoning.
Assistant deputy coroner Suzanne Greenaway oversaw the inquest and then resigned the following month after her qualifications were called into question. She was appointed by her husband, Andrew Reid, the coroner for inner north London. Reid was suspended and then resigned earlier this month.
Winehouse family spokesman Chris Goodman said that her family did not request a new hearing.
