Black Flag To Record New Album
Pitchfork reports that the reunited Black Flag plan to record a new album.
The band actually reunited in two forms. The first is called FLAG and features former vocalist Keith Morris, bassist Chuck Dukowski and drummer Bill Stevenson with Descendents guitarist Stephen Egerton. FLAG has several festival dates already confirmed and will tour the US this year, playing music from Black Flag’s entire collection.
The other band features the founder, Greg Ginn and 1979-era vocalist Ron Reyes. They announced they will play the UK’s Hevy Fest on August 4 and are “putting finishing touches on a new album,” which will be released later this year.
Drummer Gregory Moore, who played with Ginn’s side project Gone, will also be involved. It’s unknown who the band’s live bassist will be. “Dale Nixon” plays bass on the new album, but this is the fake name Greg Ginn created for his playing on My War.
This version will also tour the US in the fall. They have also added two more festival dates including Ruhrpott Rodeo in Hünxe, Germany on May 18th, and the Muddy Roots Music Festival in Tennessee on August 31.
