Bon Iver Frontman Still Hates the Grammys

Pitchfork reports that Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon has said he still hates the Grammys.

Despite winning two awards at this year’s ceremony, Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon has explained that he still hates The Grammys.

Vernon wrote: “this is why i hate the grammies. because it allows you to question what you’ve done. don’t question what you’ve done Ed.”

He later wrote on Twitter: “y’alls music is pure as **** and there is nobody making music like you and i think it’s truly unique. the grammies aren’t a measure of much that is calculable or quantifiable by our own contexts for music. why you create is most important.”

Vernon was tweeting with Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear who didn’t receive any Grammy nominations for their new album Shields. Droste wrote: “So the Grammies are literally based off sales and nothing else?#bummerzone… Super relieved Taylor Swift is up for another award. Was worried she didn’t have enough! #phew”.

Droste then started writing tweets to Vernon about the “Grammy secret.” Droste asked: “Don’t know how you managed to infiltrate @blobtower, what’s the secret?… or maybe we gotta make better music :/ point is a year ago I was so excited you were nominated, and nobody from “our world” :(“.

The 55th annual Grammy Awards are set for February 10, 2013 at the Staples Center.
