British Man Dies Doing Gangnam Style Dance
The Daily Telegraph (via NME ) reports that a British man has collapsed and died after doing the “Gangnam Style” dance from the music vode.
Eamonn Kilbride, 46, collapsed with chest pains at his office party in Blackburn last weekend. He was doing the horse dance from the video.
Professor Bernard Keavney, a consultant cardiologist at Newcastle University, said that older men should not “stray outside your comfort zone” at Christmas parties this year. He added: “The chance that you’ll come to grief is very small. But as with any form of untypical exercise… be somewhat measured. Let the lady dance around you.“
Kilbride was an IT manager. He was with his wife Julie, who was celebrating her birthday. The two were married for 23 years and had three children: Laurajade (22), Jack (21) and Conor (18). Julie said her “loving husband” was “the life of the party”.
“Gangnam Style” is now the most-watched video in Youtube history. It hit 815 million views since it was posted on July 15, 2012. This surpassed Justin Bieber’s “Baby”, which was posted in February 2010 and has 803 million views. PSY (Park Jae-Sang) has had more worldwide success with the song, which has sold four million copies. He also had the first UK #1 by a Korean artist. The video gets 11 million viewers a day.
