Bruno Mars #1 Again On Billboard Hot 100

Bruno Mars’ hit song “Locked Out Of Heaven” is once again #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is his second week at the top. The song comes from his second album Unorthodox Jukebox.

Mars has now spent multiple weeks at #1 with his four hits. His first #1, B.o.B.’s “Nothin on You”, was on top for two weeks starting on May 1, 2010. “Just The Way You Are” (four weeks, 2010) and “Grenade” soon followed. He is one of nine male soloists in the entire history of the chart to get at least two weeks at #1 with his first four #1 hits. Usher has the record with nine in his first nine #1 songs. George Michael and Elvis Presley have six multi-week #1s apiece, followed by Lionel Richie (5) Bryan Adams (4), Jay-Z (4), Nelly (4) and Rod Stewart. Among all artists, Mariah Carey has the record with 12.

Coming in at #2 again was Rihanna’s “Diamonds”, which was #1 for three weeks before Mars took over. The song has a larger lead than “Diamonds”, with a gain of 12% compared to a 3% decrease in chart points.

In the top five, “Diamonds” is followed by The Lumineers’ “Ho Hey” at #3 and Ke$ha’s “Die Young”. Ke$ha suffered a 19% drop after her song was pulled from radio due to the Newtown shootings. It is the greatest percentage drop among the top 40 songs on Radio Songs. At #5 is Maroon 5′s “One More Night”, which previously stayed on top for nine weeks in a row.

In the bottom half of the top ten, Flo Rida’s “I Cry” comes in at #6, followed by Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s “Beauty and a Beat”, Phillip Phillips’ “Home”, fun.’s “Some Nights” and Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble”. That song climbs 15-10 and earns the top Digital Gainer award. It originally peaked at #3 eight weeks ago.

Outside of the top ten, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” falls 11-18 but passes three million in sales. Mariah Carey’s 1994 Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” climbs to #25 after re-entering last week at #29. Cassadee Pope, who won The Voice last night, gets the top debut at #40 for her Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy”. Ellie Goulding’s “Lights”, the #1 pop song of 2012, is enjoying its 52nd week on the Hot 100 at #43. It is the 30th song to spend at least a year on the chart.
