Bruno Mars Could Get First Ever Billboard 200 Chart Topper with Unorthodox Jukebox
Billboard reports that Bruno Mars might score his first number one Billboard 200 chart album with his release of Unorthodox Jukebox, released last December.
The release will reportedly be bolstered by an Amazon MP3 promotion. On Tuesday, February 26, Amazon offered a group of albums for $1.99 including Unorthodox Jukebox. The title could now jump to number one on the Billboard 200 chart next week.
It is still too early to see how the album will sell for the week ending March 3. An expected range for the album could be around 70,000 to 80,000 copies which would beat the rest of the chart competition. Discounted sales of the album count toward its weekly total because the album has been out for more than four weeks. And Billboard doesn’t count sales of albums priced below $3.49 in their first four weeks of release.
This could potentially be Mars’ first chart-topper. His first album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans reached number 3. Jukebox previously peaked at number 2 when it debuted. The album has thus far sold 865,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album hit number 2 again this week with another 48,000 copies sold.
