Billboard spoke with Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green about the changes made to The Voice, including taking the elimination power away from the judges.

After the November 13 live show which saw the cast cut down from 12 to 10. He said: “My trust has been replenished. It was exactly as I would have chosen.

After Aguilera said goodbye to Adriana Louise, she added: “It’s bittersweet. I’m a little thankful the pressure is not on my shoulders. There are such a lot of unique singers to there are no losers. They’re all ‘The Voice’ in different ways.

Team Blake’s Michaele Paige was also eliminated. The change involves leaving the decision of who stays and who goes in the hands of voters and download buyers. The coaches no longer have to make that choice, which would result in making a choice within seconds at times.

Performances from the show include Aguilera and Green, Jason Aldean, and then Green and Shelton.

Host and producer Carson Daly added: “It’s more important to give America their say. If a coach has to take a back seat, so be it. We listened to what the research told us. Fans said ‘we’re your loyal viewers, relinquish some power.’ I like the change. It says ‘here’s the talent. Get invested.’

Aguilera will next appear at the American Music Awards on November 18. She said: “There are so many different textures on (her new album) ‘Lotus’ that there’s not one song that represents it. Every song is different in mood so for the AMAs, I’ll do a medley of ‘Lotus’ tunes — ‘Army of Me,’ ‘Let There Be Love’ (and others).
