Destiny’s Child and Beyonce Album Sales Up Almost 200 Percent After Their Super Bowl Performance

Billboard reports the most recent Nielsen SoundScan sales are tracking that the albums for the Destiny’s Child group and Beyonce have seen a 197% sales increase since the group’s halftime performance at the Super Bowl. Beyonce performed eight songs with the group for the CBS broadcast.

Beyonce’s catalog of albums (solo and with Destiny’s Child) sold 20,000 in the week ending February 3, up 197% in comparison to last week. Beyonce sold 9,000 (up 119%), Destiny’s Child shifted 11,000 (up 328%). The latter number is inflated in part due to their new release Love Songs which was released on january 29. The compilation sold 6,000 copies and debuted at number 72 on the Billboard 200.

For digital song sales, Beyonce and Destiny’s Child shifted 167,000 downloads for the week, an overall 132% increase in sales. Beyonce moved 122,000 for her solo-songs, an overall 103% increase. Destiny’s Child sold 44,000 downloads, an increase of 286%.

Further impact from the halftime show will likely also be seen next week as well after a full seven days’ worth of sales are registered after the game.
