Frank Ocean’s Win Over Chris Brown Tops Grammy Social Media Count
Trendrr reports that the Frank Ocean’s win for Best Contemporary Urban Album over Chris Brown was the most social media-heavy moment in the Grammy Awards, which were themselves the second-biggest social media-covered event of 2013. The site, which measures interactions on Twitter, Facebook, Get Glue and the like, reports that the Grammy Awards had over 15.4 million social interactions. That ranks it only behind the Super Bowl for the year so far.
This year’s social media count is a 511% increase over the 2011 Grammy Awards but was down from the 17 million from last year which were spurred on by Whitney Houston’s death. The most used Grammy hashtag, #GRAMMYS, was used 2.6 million times during the evening.
Other spikes of activity aside from Ocean’s win over Brown were Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s performance and fun.’s Song of the Year win.
