Is Jake Shears Working With Queens of the Stone Age
Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears may be working with Queens of the Stone Age. He posted a photo on Twitter of himself with the band, in which he wrote: “Jake Shears + Queens of the Stone Age = satanic cabaret.“
It’s unknown if they are working together on the band’s new album, another project altogether, or if they are even working together at all.
NME reports that in September of last year, Shears spoke about his love of the band. He said: “It’d be a dream collaboration, because I’m a huge fan. I really, really want to sing on the next QOTSA album. I’m desperate for it. And he’s [Homme] a fan of our band too, as unlikely as that might be. I think he’s a genius, a genuine rock hero living among us.“
If Shears does work on the band’s album, he’ll join a lineup that includes Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl (who will play drums after Joey Castillo left) and former bassist Nick Oliveri.
The band have denied reports that the album will be released in March, however. NME contacted their management after FACT magazine reported they would release the follow-up to 2007’s Era Vulgaris that month.
Home previously said that there are “a lot of struggles going on” with the album. He added: “I think this record is a little more lyrically vulnerable, but I also think it’s sort of musically deeper and richer, and it’s a little bit stranger. This record basically sounds like you’re running in a dream the whole time.“
