Justin BIeber Passes Lady Gaga For Most Followers On Twitter
Twittercounter.com (via Billboard) reports that Justin Bieber has passed Lady Gaga as the most followed person on Twitter. On Monday night he reached a high of 33,315,521, just less than a hundred from Gaga’s 33,315,459.
Bieber adds an average of 40,055 users a day, which should put him in the lead for some time to come. Gaga only adds 30,495 a day. Katy Perry, in third place, has 31.4 million with 29,843 a day.
Gaga joined the service on March 26, 2008, a year before Bieber. She’s been on top of Twitter since August 2010 when she passed Britney Spears with over 5.7 million.
Gaga wrote in response to the news of being passed up: “So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers! I’m only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you!“
The two also battled for fans on Youtube. Gaga was the first to hit one billion Youtube views, which Bieber matched a month later. On Facebook, Gaga is ahead with 54.9 million likes, 4.3 million more than Bieber. Rihanna is ahead of both with 65.6 million.
Bieber is currently promoting the release of Believe Acoustic on January 29. Gaga is on tour with her next album ARTPOP coming later this year.
