Justin Timberlake Wants To Make 10-Minute Songs

February 26, 2013 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with Capital FM (via NME), Justin Timberlake said if Led Zeppelin can make 10 minute songs then he should be able to as well.

This comes after he released the eight-minute song “Mirrors”.

He said: “When we were making the record I said, ‘If Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin can do 10-minute songs and Queen can do 10-minute songs then why can’t we?’ We’ll figure out the radio edits later.’ Music is for dreamers. You should be able to create another world that you can live in. I’m not gonna speak for Bob Dylan – he’s one of my idols – but from my perspective, as a fan, it seems to me that he started creating music that made him feel like another person and that’s what it should do. [The studio] really is one place that you can still go to that you can be completely free. You can lock yourself in a room and make a whole other world.

Justin Timberlake recently signed on to headline the Wireless Festival with Jay-Z. It will be at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London, instead of its usual venue in Hyde Park. This will be both Timberlake and Jay-Z’s only festival appearance in the UK this summer.
