Kanye West, Jay-Z and Beyonce Lead BET Award Nominations

Billboard reports that the nominees have been announced for this year’s BET Awards, with Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch the Throne collaboration earning five nominations.

Watch the Throne is up for Best Group, Best Collaboration and Video of the Year twice (for “N***as in Paris” and “Otis”). West has seven nominations in total, as he’s also up for Best Director and Best Collaboration.

Beyonce leads the pack, however, with six nominations including Best Female R&B Artist.

The event will be hosted by Samuel L. Jackson who appeared via video at the nominations announcement today. A$AP Rocky, Big Sean, Melanie Fiona and more revealed the nominees. Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown will perform at the ceremony. There will also be a tribute to Whitney Houston.

The BET Awards airs July 1 from Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
