Katy Perry and Lady Gaga Jump Up Billboard Pop Charts
Katy Perry and Lady Gaga’s new singles are tearing up the Billboard Pop Charts. Billboard reports that Perry’s “Roar” jumped nineteen spots to #15 this week, gaining the weekly “Greatest Gainer” award while Gaga’s “Applause” debuted at #20 which is the highest debut by a solo female artists since Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” in September of last year. “Roar” had previously debuted last week at #34 after just two days of radio play.
Both singles should be able to translate their airplay success into big moves on the Billboard Hot 100 which is announced on Wednesday. Perry’s single could be the one to finally knock Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” out of the #1 spot while Gaga should debut in the top 10.
