Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Part Of Security Incident At New York City Airport
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were part of a security violation at JFK International Airport in New York City yesterday, though the TSA claims that they weren’t at fault. TMZ reports that the couple flew from Brazil to JFK Airport yesterday and planned to catch a connecting flight to Los Angeles. According to the TSA, an airline greeter allowed them to bypass a “key security checkpoint” in order to get them to the connection flight and after they were on the plane, a TSA agent pulled them off and made them go through another layer of security, which cased the flight to be delayed by about an hour.
The TSA commented, saying, “An airline employee escorted the two travelers through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight. In doing so, the airline employee violated security protocols by permitting the travelers to by-pass the TSA security checkpoint. TSA officials learned of the violation and conducted a private screening of the two passengers in the area of the jetway. The passengers were cleared to board their flight, which departed after a delay of approximately 50 minutes. TSA is actively investigating the incident.”
A rep for America Airlines also commented and said, “This was a lapse in judgment by one of our employees. We’re working closely with the TSA and speaking to the individuals involved to better understand what happened.”
The airline also says that the delay was not entirely due to the couple, noting, “It was delayed in part…because a number of connecting bags were delayed getting to the aircraft.”
