Lady Gaga, Britney Spears And Others Against Texas Bathroom Bill

February 15, 2017 | Posted by Joseph Lee

Billboard reports that Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Lawrence are several of over 140 celebrities who have spoken out against a Texas bill that targets transgender people. Britney Spears and Jimmy Kimmel also signed the letter, which calls the Republican-supported bill a “denial of basic human dignity.” The bill, labeled a “bathroom bill,” would require people to use bathrooms that are for the sex listed on their birth certificate. North Carolina introduced a similar law last year which caused Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen to cancel shows in the state. The Texas bill hasn’t had a preliminary vote but there has been mounting pressure from the public. The NFL previously suggested that Texas could be ignored for future Super Bowls if it becomes law.
