Nicole Scherzinger Turned Down “We Found Love” Before Rihanna Got It

February 21, 2013 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with Notion magazine (via NME), Nicole Scherzinger revealed that she turned down Calvin Harris’ “We Found Love” before it was eventually given to Rihanna.

She said: “I passed on ‘We Found Love’. I got the demo of that song and I was busy at the time. They’d sent me a few dance tracks and I wasn’t able to get to them and I was like, ‘Oh, there’s so much dance and I want to take a break from it’. That was my fault. I slept on it.

She also turned down the chance to record “Crazy” before Gnarles Barkley and while in the Pussycat Dolls they said no to “Just Dance” before it went to Lady Gaga.

Leona Lewis previously revealed she was also offered “We Found Love” before Rihanna. She provided vocals to the song first but it was given to Rihanna after Lewis wanted to release a different song as the lead single form her third album. The song became #1 in 25 countries and has sold 6.5 million copies.
