Nigel Lythgoe Wants Charlie Sheen and Jerry Lewis for American Idol
Nigel Lythgoe is going way, way into left field with his picks for new American Idol judges. Lythgoe told TMZ that should be make the call, he wants Charlie Sheen and Jerry Lewis as judges for the show.
While he is probably (but not for certain) joking, the show is in a serious state of flux. As previously reported, producers have sent out feelers to various musical stars from Adam Lambert and Katy Perry to Fergie, Miley Cyrus and more in order to see if they would be interested in judging on the show. Producers at Fremantle, which runs Idol, believe they have a chance of signing Jennifer Lopez and want to, but have not yet. Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson could also be gone this season, and different potential judges would make sense depending on who departs to maintain a certain balance on the show.
Feelers are being sent out pretty wide so that the producers have a wide variety of options to choose from depending on who returns, but any decisions are far from being made yet. Not even Lythgoe or Ken Warwick have been picked up for Season 12 yet.
