Paul McCartney Talks About His Ageing Sheep on His Farm

January 27, 2013 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

Paul McCartney talked about his ageing sheep he keeps on his Scottish farm on Radio 4’s Food Programme (via NME). McCartney said he can’t bear to send his sheep to slaughter so they die of old age.

McCartney, a long time vegetarian and activist stated: “I live on a sheep farm and we shear the sheep, but they die of old age. But it can be embarrassing. People say, ‘Look at the state of your sheep!’ And I say, ‘Yes, they’re very old. There’s only one alternative – to send them off to the knacker’s yard’.”

He added, “They just die like we do. It’s life, it’s death, it’s what happens. We just give them a good life and I take the wool from them.”

McCartney is now giving the veggie food range of his late wife Linda a new push and also writes a blog for The Huffington Post on his vegetarianism.
