Prince Owes Over Half A Million Dollars In Back Taxes, $3 Million For Concert No-Show

March 26, 2010 | Posted by Mitch Michaels

According to tax records in Carver County, Minnesota, Prince and his two companies owe $506,000 in delinquent property taxes for last year.

Prince has less than a month now to file an objection, or a court judgment will be entered against the properties for the unpaid tax, penalty, interest, and costs. Fortunately, he has until May of 2013 to pay off the grand total before any sort of foreclosure would commence. Prince is known for paying taxes late, as he sent in property tax checks past due in both 2006 and 2008.

That’s not the only Prince may need to pony up though. He owes nearly $3 million in damages to concert promoters for backing out of a show in Dublin at the last minute a couple years ago. Prince and the promoters reached a settlement last month, but he’s yet to pay.

In the current court case, an agent who works with Prince said that, when he asked Prince about the lawsuit, the artist responded, “Tell the cat to chill. We will work something out.”
