Red Hot Chili Peppers And Blur To Headline Coachella 2013
Billboard reports that Blur, the Stone Roses, Phoenix and Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The festival takes place in Indio, California from April 12-14 and April 19-21.
Blur and the Stone Roses will perform on Friday night, along with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (who release their new album Mosquito in April), How To Destroy Angels, Jurassic 5 and Alt-J.
Phoenix, whose album Bankrupt (the follow-up to Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix) will be released in the spring, will headline on Saturday with Postal Service, Grizzly Bear, Hot Chip, the xx and Sigur Ros. There will also be hip-hop artists performing on April 13 and 20, including Danny Brown, El-P, Pusha T and 2 Chainz.
The Chili Peppers will headline Sunday for the third time with supporting acts Vampire Weekend, Social Distortion and the Wu-Tang Clan. Nick Cave’s two bands, the Bad Seeds and Grinderman, will both play at the festival.
The Rolling Stones are absent from the lineup after being rumored to headline. The rumor started after the date appeared on their iPhone app last month, but the Stones have denied it.
There will also be several top EDM artists at the event, including Bassnectar, Eric Prydz and Paul Oakenfold. Last year’s event included Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Afrojack.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday at 10 AM PT. Last year’s event was headlined by the Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg, who brought out a hologram of Tupac. Last month saw the launch of the Coachella Cruise with Pulp, Girl Talk and Sleigh Bells performing.
