Richard Street Of The Temptations Dead At 70
CNN reports that former Temptations member Richard Street has passed away at the age of 70.
He died early yetserday at the St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Las Vegas, according to his widow, Cindy Street. He experienced back pain and breathing difficulties on Friday. When he went to the hospital, doctors said he had a clot in a lung.
Cindy said: “He was really fighting for his life. He’s a fighter.“
This comes a week and two days after fellow Temptations member Damon Harris died on February 18 in Baltimore.
Cindy added: “They’re dancing up there in heaven, him and Damon. I’m in disbelief right now. He was part of black history. He was always proud of that. He sang on a lot of those classic songs: ‘Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,’ ‘Hey Girl,’ ‘Heavenly,’ ‘Superstar,’ ‘Masterpiece.’“
He performed 45 concert dates in Europe just last fall. He is survived by his wife of seven years and his four children: Richard “Ricky” Jr., Nicole, Brandy and Brandon. Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for next week in Cypress, California.
