Ryan Seacrest Says New Year’s Eve Will Be Surreal Without Dick Clark

December 31, 2012 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Ryan Seacrest says that it will be strange to be celebrating New Year’s Eve without Dick Clark. Seacrest, who was a protege of Clark’s, spoke with Good Morning America (via Us Weekly) about Clark–who passed away in April–and tonight’s New Year’s Eve ceremony. Check out the highlights:

On hosting without Clark: “Surreal is probably the most appropriate word. You think back 40 years ago he started the tradition…I not only watched him, I used to watch him and study how he hosted these shows.”

On Clark: “He was kind of like my guidance counselor. He’d always make you feel like you were his good friend. He was like that in person as well.”
