Suge Knight Claims He Was The Target In Tupac Shakur Shooting
The Daily Mail reports that a new affidavit filed by Suge Knight’s attorney reveals that Knight claims he knows who killed Tupac Shakur. In addition to that, he claims that he was the real target of the shooting that killed the rapper almost 21 years ago. Knight’s criminal defense lawyer Thaddeus Culpepper submitted the affidavit which blames Knight’s former chief of security and his ex-wife.
The affidavit reads: “Knight has known for many years that Reggie Wright Jr. and his ex-wife Sharitha were behind the murder of Tupac and attempted murder of Knight.”
Knight learned of the new documentary Tupac Assassination: Battle for Compton and decided to tell the truth about the situation. The documentary is based on the book Tupac: 187 The Red Knight. The book also states that Knight was the intended target on September 13, 1996. Knight then reportedly confirmed this to filmmakers.
Author Russell Poole told Vice in 2015: “Suge wasn’t divorced yet and if he died in that hit, she’d get most of everything. So she went to Wright Jr., who was in charge of Death Row and ran it while Suge was in prison. He has gotten away with it this whole time.”
Knight is currently waiting for a trial for a 2015 incident in which he ran over and killed Cle “Bone” Sloan’s friend Terry Carter on the set of Straight Outta Compton. He’s had several health problems which have delayed the trial. Just last month, he was taken to the hospital due to blood clots.
