The NRA Puts Beyonce, Britney Spears And Others On Its List Of Enemies
The BBC reports that National Rifle Association has published a list of enemies that includes Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Bon Jovi, disco diva Chaka Khan, Shania Twain and Boyz II Men.
The list also includes George Clooney, Hallmark greeting cards and the Kansas City Royals baseball team. The NRA said: “All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions.“
The list of over 500 is called “Organizations With Anti-Gun Policies.” It appeared on the group’s website but has since been removed. It also featured Dick Van Dyke, Barbra Streisand, and Frank Zappa’s children Ahmet, Diva, Dweezil and Moon – as well as his wife Gail.
It was originally created in September 2012 and has been mocked on social media after supporters of gun control pointed out that the list has almost every prominent American. The list is divided into categories including “Anti-Gun Individuals and Celebrities,” journalists, civic organizations and corporations, as well as a religious leaders category.
The debate about firearms increased after President Barack Obama spoke about the need for gun control following the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
