UPDATED: Duran Duran Cancels Fourth Show Due To Illness
UPDATE: Billboard now reports that Duran Duran have decided to cancel the rest of their “All You Need Is Now” tour due to Nick Rhodes’ ongoing illness.
The band initially announced they would cancel tonight’s show at the Ravinia Festival near Chicago, but they say they’ve been “forced to cancel the remaining shows” on the tour’s North America portion. These dates include shows in Atlantic City, Pittsburg and Kettering, Ohio.
The band’s website has a message that reads: “Rhodes, who has been unwell now for over a week, was advised by doctors today that he is not yet ready to perform.“
Original: Billboard reports that Duran Duran have canceled a fourth concert on their “All You Need Is Now” tour because of an illness affecting keyboardist Nick Rhodes.
The band announced today that a show scheduled for tomorrow at the Ravinia Festival near Chicago was canceled. They have also canceled shows over the weekend in Atlantic City and Pittsburgh, as well as a show tonight in Kettering, Ohio.
A message on the band’s website reads: “Rhodes has been advised by doctors that he is not yet ready to perform and should continue to rest for at least the next 72 hours.“
Rhodes has been sick for a week and is suffering from the same symptoms that have kept him away. Rhodes himself said: “I feel completely helpless over the situation and all I can do is apologize to our fans.“
In an earlier statement, they said Rhodes could have a viral infection. Duran Duran is in the final portion of their tour, which began in spring of last year. There are only two concerts left, August 31 and September 1 in Orillia, Ontario.
They also recently put the tour on hold the perform at the Hyde Park in London to commemorate the opening of the Olympics.
