November 25, 2002 | Posted by Josh Nason

Today’s Indy Headlines: OVW holds open tryout camp to possibly get a shot at WWE…American Championship Wrestling holds their first show…Results from IWF, ECCW and more!

–OVW, the only developmental territory for WWE, is having a tryout camp in February that is open to the public.

The 6-day camp, which will take place from February 23-28, will be limited to 50 participants and will be open to both current pros & those who have no wrestling experience. The objective is to find those with potential for a career in wrestling who would be invited to train in OVW & new talent for the WWE developmental program.

Attendees will be interviewed, evaluated & run through practice drills by OVW instructor Danny Davis, OVW matchmaker Jim Cornette, officials from WWE Talent Relations & the wrestlers currently in the WWE developmental program.

For those who have never had formal wrestling training, the focus will be on evaluating their conditioning, appearance, attitude & potential to learn the sport. Those felt to have what it takes to succeed will be invited to enroll in OVW’s training program.

For those current wrestling on the independent level, this is an opportunity to have a “private audition” with the OVW/WWE personnel. In addition to being evaluated for conditioning, appearance & attitude, those with pro credentials will be allowed to wrestle tryout matches against the best WWE developmental talent for a potential spot on the OVW and/or WWE rosters.

Head to www.ovwrestling.com/ovwschool/menudisplay.htm for online applications or more info. The deadline is Feburary 1st and all participants must be 18 years old.
