WWE Main Event Report 10.20.15

Brie Bella (w/Alicia Fox & Nikki Bella) vs Sasha Banks (w/Naomi & Tamina): This is the first televised match these two ladies have had. Early on there was an exchange of mockery as Brie mocked Sasha’s dance, a minute later after gaining control Banks began a “Yes” chant.. Banks kept control until the commercial break. We returned from break to see Brie laying into the Banks with D-Bry like kicks with the crowd chanting “Yes”. These two had the crowd really into the whole match and biting on near falls along with big spots such as Banks stomping of Brie while stuck on the middle rope. Banks would eventually gain control and win with the backstabber / Bank Statement combo. Good match here, but it would have been nice to see Sasha get a little more offense in.

Prime Time Players vs. Wyatt Family: Wyatt Family is represented by Rowan (who had returned earlier in the week) and Strowman. Wyatt and Harper (who was off TV this week) are nowhere to be seen. Rowan and Strowman together truly look like a tag team sent straight from the 80s, just with much less entertainment value. Players get in a surprising amount of offense in against the Wyatt boys. O’Neil does at least, hitting his usual spots and barking like a dog. Young would be thrown to the outside and Strowman would lock O’Neil up for the tap out. This was your typical tag match, Strowman continues to look perfectly competent for a guy with less than 100 matches under his belt.

HYPE: History of Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker

Kevin Owens vs Neville:
This is the fourth time these two have wrestled a singles match against each other this year; Owens has won the previous three. Of interesting note is that this is the fourth weekly show they have faced on this year (NXT, Raw and SmackDown! coming previously). Neville went on a furious offense early on in the match which sent Owens retreating behind the announcers table. This was a good play off of the angle from 2 weeks ago, however the announcers don’t play it up as such, nor do we see the conclusion as when we return from commercial Owens is in the ring begging for mercy. Owens has control through the mid portion of the match and does some trash talking of Saxton, to which the announcers basically no sell again. Owens had Neville up on his shoulders, but before he could execute anything Neville was able to turn over and deliver a DDT. The next few minutes was Neville hitting some spectacular looking offense including a moonsault from the top rope onto the floor. Neville would attempt the Red Arrow but miss and allow Owens to set him up for the Pop Up Powerbomb to finish things. Another great match from these two. While not as good as their Raw match, and just a tick below their NXT match it is still a match worth going to the Network and checking out.

The 411

Very good episode of Main Event this week. Both the ladies and Owens/Neville were given the right amount of time to tell good stories. Neville vs Owens was the best match on either Main Event or Superstars since I started reviewing them for 411 last month.
