Clips of last year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic open the show because the tournament starts tonight.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round: The Authors of Pain w/ Paul Ellering vs. The Bollywood Boyz

The Bollywood Boyz appeared separately during the Cruiserweight Classic. Razar starts with Harv. Harv gets in some punches but it doesn’t do much. AOP just wail on him in the corner. “Please don’t die” chants. Harv hits a jawbreaker and tags Gurv. Gurv just immediately runs into a clothesline. AOP work double knee strikes and a tandem chest breaker. They squash Gurv in the corner and hit the clothesline/leg sweep combo for the 1-2-3.

Winners: The Authors of Pain in 1:41

Typical stuff from the Authors of Pain. Too much of a squash to rate. I wish we got more from the Bollywood Boyz though.

Rich Swann vs. Patrick Clark

Clark is playing a flamboyant character who continues to blow kisses at Swann. The crowd LOVES Swann. Headlock by Clark and he hits a shoulder block. Swann leap frogs over, goes under and then front flips over Clark. Clark taunts, Swann dances and hits a dropkick. Clark comes back with a big spinebuster for a near fall. Swann comes back with a kick and hits a high knee in the corner. Clark is out of it and Swann wins with a handspring moonsault.

Winner: Rich Swann in 2:55

Fun little squash match here. Clark’s character is interesting but I’m not sure how well it will work. Swann is just a blast.

We get a recap of the match from two weeks ago where Cedric Alexander bested Andrade Almas. Tonight, they team up against the Revival in a first round match of hte tournament.

A recap of Asuka murdering Liv Morgan airs. They honestly could have just shown the entire match and not taken up any time. An exclusive from after the match is shown of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce making fun of Liv for the loss.

Peyton Royce w/ Billie Kay vs. Danielle Kamela

I love that Peyton and Billie are teaming up again. Peyton body slams Kamela and taunts. KAmela comes back and nails a cross body for one. She dropkicks Peyton into the corner but Peyton bounces out with a spin kick for two. She gets Danielle on the ropes and pulls her arms back on the ropes. It’s a weird move to describe. Peyton drives elbows into Danielle’s shoulders and works a chinlock. Danielle fights out and hits a corner forearm. She does a handspring back elbow and tries a suplex. Peyton counters that and a body slam, clubbing Danielle. A running knee and fisherman’s suplex wins it.

Winner: Peyton Royce in 3:42

Nothing much to write home about here, but I just LOVE that Peyton is getting shine. She is the total package.

Bobby Roode and Tye Dillinger get interviewed in the back about teaming up next week. Roode doesn’t let Tye talk and says that Tye is going to take the next step by being in the ring with him. Tye goes to speak but Roode just does his glorious pose behind Tye. Tye hilariously asks if he’s okay and Roode is all like “CAN YOU FEEL IT? CAN YOU FEEL HOW GLORIOUS IT WILL BE WHEN WE’RE VICTORIOUS?” He calls them the Glorious 10.

They hype up Dan Matha’s debut. He comes out but Samoa Joe shows up and just beats his ass the second he gets in the ring. STJoe in the corner knocks out this 6’8, 290 pounder. Joe gets on the microphone and says “tick tock” before running and kicking Dan. “Who will be the next to get their head rocked?” Joe again calls out Regal, saying more people will get destroyed until he gets Nakamura or his title.

No Way Jose and Rich Swann get interviewed about why they’re teaming up. Jose says that they listened to the fans. Jose says that Swann knows about “hard times” but he told life “no way.” Swann chose Jose because people take him lightly because he likes to have a fiesta but he’s a 6’3 beast. Swann does his “can you handle this?” and Jose responds with “no way Jose” as they dance off the set.

Sanity vignette. They debut and face Roode and Dillinger next week.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round: Andrade Almas and Cedric Alexander vs. NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival

Alexander and Dash kick things off. They grab one another and a quick tag to Dawson comes. Alexander survives some basic Dawson stuff before backflipping and hitting a headscissors. Almas also takes both champions over with a headscissors of his own and they dropkick the Revival outside. The champions take a breather and do a tag outside. Dash comes in but the referee rightfully stops him. Dawson tries to get in a cheap shot but Alexander is ready and prevents it. He and Almas hit double dropkicks and Lamas works Dawson’s arm. Dawson stomps on Almas’ hand and tags Dash who clubs him in the back. Alexander gets the tag and they double back bod drop Dash. They send Dawson over and out and then toss Dash out onto Dawson. The champions walk around the ring and Almas does his fake dive outside. While he poses there, Alexander leaps over him and takes out the champions with a tope con hilo. Inside, Alexander picks up a near fall. The Revival take control and start going after Almas’ left shoulder. After a break, Almas is still in trouble. Dash wrenches on Almas’ arm. They bust out the WWE video game generic double team move, the drop toe hold/elbow combo. Dash distracts the official while Almas had Dawson in a small package. He goes for the tag but Dawson expertly slides in front of him to cut it off while Dash pulls him away. Dash catches a boot and slaps Almas but eats an enziguri. Both men make tags. Cedric comes in hot and hits Dash with a high knee. He nails a handspring enziguri but Dash breaks up the pin. Almas saves his partner from trouble and sends the Revival into one another. Cedric sunset flips over Dawson into a bridging pin for a near fall that the fans totally bit on. The Revival avoid some of Alexander’s offense and pulls Almas off the apron to avoid the tag. They catch Cedric with the Shatter Machine.

Winners: The Revival in 9:04

Really good stuff here. The Revival just nail each part of their game so perfectly. Almas looked better than usual and Alexander was his usual awesome self. The Revival are the best tag team on the planet. ***1/4

Andrade Almas levels Cedric Alexander from behind and stomps on him on the outside. He hoists Alexander on his shoulders and drops him face first onto the steel steps. This is a smart move. Almas wasn’t getting over as a face at all, so trying this is a good plan. It has worked for Carmella on the main roster.
