Keep Refreshing For The Latest Results

Things open with a video that shows Joe standing tall as NXT Champion in Toronto, while Nakamura is defeated. We see him say that he wants the rematch in Osaka and then get highlights of him winning the title back. William Regal tells Nakamura that Joe wants his rematch on December 8th. Joe promises to take him out and win back the title in a Steel Cage match from Australia.

NXT Championship Steel Cage Match: Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Samoa Joe

This is promoted as their “final encounter.” They circle one another and do their typical thing where they carefully go for early strikes. Nakamura takes Joe down, but Joe gets up and they get to the ropes, still jockeying for position. Nakamura finally gives his cocky break, so Joe throws him into the cage. Nakamura avoids the steel and dances away. Snapmare and knee drop connect before it’s time for good vibrations. Joe gets Nakamura pinned against the cage and wails on him.. My feed isn’t great and it cuts to commercial with no warning so I may have missed something. Returning, Nakamura knocks Joe down and starts in with some vicious knee strikes. I get a Network error but it returns to see Nakamura throw Joe into the cage and hit a German suplex. Joe avoids Kinshasa with a powerslam for two. They exchange strikes in the center of the ring. Joe ducks a kick and locks in the Coquina Clutch. Nakamura walks up the turnbuckles and flips over to break free. He nails a sliding knee strike and both men are down. Nakamura covers for tow. Shinsuke looks to climb out but Joe stops him with some right hands. He looks for the super Muscle Buster that beat Finn Balor in the cage back in June. Nakamura fights off and smashes Joe’s face into the steel. Joe falls to the mat and Nakamura comes off the top with a big Kinshasa. Nakamura tries to go out the door but turns to see Joe getting up. He closes the door, turns and connects on another Kinshasa. A third one as Joe went for a clothesline ends it.

Winner and Still NXT Champion: Shinsuke Nakamura in 9:04ish shown (**1/4)

Back in Full Sail, we get a recap of the six woman tag from Toronto three weeks ago. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are interviewed about their loss. They say they didn’t lose, Daria did. Billie says they have many plans and are still on track. Peyton says they don’t associate with losers. Daria walks up to them and says she doesn’t want to be part of their future plans but she wants to hurt one of them next week. They can figure it out themselves.

Number One Contender’s Qualifying Match: Eric Young w/ SAnitY vs. Tye Dillinger

Kudos to commentary for mentioning that it was SAnitY that beat up Tye during the Dusty Classic. Young comes out aggressively. Tye comes back with a clothesline and ten corner punches. As Tye is on a roll, Nikki Cross runs in and jumps on his back for the DQ.

Winner via disqualification: Tye Dillinger in 1:17

Eric Young pulls Nikki off and goes on the offensive himself. Tye sends him outside, knocks Alexander Wolfe off the apron and then dodges Nikki, who falls outside. Big Damo is back out and attacks Tye. He busts out a BIG BOY SENTON for good measure.

Number One Contender’s Qualifying Match: Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. No Way Jose

Almas applies a headlock and Jose goes behind. Back to the headlock and Almas gets sent in. He tries to leap over but Jose never runs in. He just dances inside. He sends Almas in again, who just latches onto the ropes. “Tranquilo.” Jose hoists him up for the airplane spin into a Finlay roll. Jose dances his way into a leg drop. They fight in the corner where Almas gets in cheap shots and clubs him several times on the back. Running single leg dropkick by Almas gets two. Jose gets a boot up on an incoming Almas and fights him off with right hands. Double chops and a hip toss into a neckbreaker connect. Jose calls for the fastball punch but Almas ducks. Jose hits a popup right hand but only gets a near fall. Almas elbows out of the TKO and hits a big boot. He hits a sweeping hammerlock DDT to score the 1-2-3.

Winner: Andrade Almas in 3:52 (**)

Number One Contender’s Qualifying Match: Elias Samson vs. Roderick Strong

Strong again gets a relatively subdued crowd reaction. However, Corey Graves loves him and hates Samson. Samson starts with a kick and some corner stomps. He launches Strong over. Strong hops over him twice to him and then nails a dropkick. He hits a backbreaker for two. They jockey for position until reaching the ropes, where Samson doesn’t give a clean break and instead pulls on Strong’s arm.  More corner stomps. Samson continues the offense and hits a running knee with Strong draped across the apron. Inside, he hits another right hand and applies a modified chinlock. Strong fights out, escapes a powerslam and nails another dropkick. He charges into the corner with a high knee and a running forearm. He hits a huge gutbuster and the sick kick to win.

Winner: Roderick Strong in 3:15 (*1/2)

Next week, Billie Kay faces Daria Berenato.

Number One Contender’s Qualifying Match: Bobby Roode vs. Oney Lorcan

A “that was glorious” chant starts after the entrance. They lock up and Roode works a headlock into a wristlock. Oney rolls free and into his own. Roode goes behind and slams Oney down before spinning on his back and slapping him up. GLORIOUS! Oney hits a huge uppercut and some running hip attacks in the corner. Release Northern lights suplex gets two. He picks up another near fall before setting Bobby on the top. Oney tries a super half nelson suplex but Roode elbows out. Oney falls throat first on the top rope. Roode attacks with stomps and then slams Oneyface first into the apron. He also gets Oney trapped in the apron and nails an elbow. Oney pulls out a backslide for two and then nails big uppercuts. Roode counters a whip but eats some elbows. Oney hits a corner clothesline but misses his next attempt. I miss something as my shitty feed tonight cuts to a near fall for Oney. Oney misses a sunset flip and eats a spinebuster. Roode finishes with an implant DDT.

Winner: Bobby Roode in 5:00ish (**1/4)

Next week, Almas vs. Roode vs. Dillinger vs. Strong to determine Shinsuke Nakamura’s next challenger.
