411’s WWE NXT Report 2.1.17

February 1, 2017 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

The show opens with a video package recapping TakeOver: San Antonio.

Tonight, the UK Champion Tyler Bate is in action! Also, this show was taped in San Antonio.

Aliyah vs. Ember Moon

The crowd is firmly behind Ember. Aliyah takes her down into a pin for one instantly. Ember rolls her up for one also, then catches a kick and hits a double underhook suplex. Ember takes it to the 80s with a modified abdominal stretch. It actually looks pretty brutal. Aliyah fights out with a hip toss, then hits a neckbreaker. Aliyah scores with a clothesline and a bicycle kick in the corner. She hits a Northern lights suplex, a favorite move of mine, for two. Ember slowly hops up the turnbuckles for a moonsault that gets two. She carries Aliyah around but gets caught in a flying head scissors. Aliyah nearly gets a pin but Ember rolls through with a clothesline. She goes up top and nails the Eclipse for the 1-2-3.

Footage airs to recap Eric Young’s win over Tye Dillinger at TakeOver. Young spoke after saying that they take and chastising Tye for not accepting the offer. We then see a clip of Tye appearing in the Royal Rumble. He spoke about it, saying how cool it is to know his name will forever be linked with the others who appeared in the Royal Rumble throughout history.

We then gets clips of the Women’s Title match from TakeOver. Cathy Kelley spoke with Asuka after winning. She said it was hard but the title is still hers. Cathy mentioned Ember Moon calling her out on the pre-show. Asuka asked, “Ember? She works here?” Ouch.

Earlier today, Tyler Bate arrived in San Antonio.

Ember Moon is interviewed about Asuka asking who she is. Ember is glad Asuka won because she’s dominated everyone but Ember hasn’t had a chance yet. When their war settles, she’ll know who Ember is.

Non-Title Match: WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate vs. Oney Lorcan

They go to a test of strength and Bate backs him to the ropes. Oney tries a headlock and shoves him after a clean break. Bate raises the right hand and bops ONey with the left. Bate stays in control and goes for the Tyler Driver 97 but has it blocked. Oney school boys him into the turnbuckle and clubs away. Oney lights him up with chops in the corner and delivers some uppercuts. Bate rolls him up for two and hits a corner knee. He comes off the middle rope with an uppercut. After a big elbow, Bate airplane spins Lorcan. He tires out but fires up for more. Lordan hits a big running uppercut but Bate rebounds off the ropes with a rolling kick. Tyler Driver 97 connects for the win.

Winner: Tyler Bate in 5:06 (**1/4)

After clips of his win over Andrade Almas, Roderick Strong is interviewed by Cathy Kelley. He says that he was coming for the NXT Title since day one and that hasn’t changed.

Clips of the Authors of Pain winning the NXT Tag Team Titles are shown. Paul Ellering is interviewed after, saying the landscape of tag team wrestling has changed because they’re the sheriffs.

Footage of Bobby Roode winning the NXT Title comes next. We get exclusive footage of Shinsuke Nakamura being helped to the back because of his knee injury. Triple H was there to check on him and who else is there? KASSIUS OHNO! He tells Nakamura it sucks and follows as they help him. Cut to Roode being interviewed. They ask if he thinks the outcome would have been different if Nakamura didn’t get hurt. He’s irritated that’s the first question posed to the new champion. He made good on his promise to make NXT his. The Roode era has begun and it will be glorious.

Next week, there will be a glorious celebration. Also, NIgel McGuinness replaces Corey Graves on commentary. This leads to a video package of Graves’ NXT career. It’s an emotional look.

Elias Samson vs. No Way Jose

Elias threatens to sing but Jose interrupts. Samson busts out a dropkick instantly but Jose comes back with some strikes and a clothesline. Jose clubs away with chops and axe handles. Jose goes into his happy offense but Samson rolls outside to avoid a stomp. Jose takes him out with a baseball slide and comes off the apron with a strange forearm smash. After a short break, Jose gets crotched on the top turnbuckle. Samson takes over, hitting a jumping knee with Jose draped on the apron. Inside, Samson hits a big clothesline. He goes to a rest hold, wearing down Jose. Jose powers out and the crowd cheers for him. He starts in with a series of punches and hits the hip toss neckbreaker. Jose nails the popup punch to end it.

Winner: No Way Jose in 6:00 (*1/2)
