411’s WWE NXT Report 5.06.15

May 6, 2015 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

Welcome to another NXT Report! I’d like to thank everyone who reads and comments on this.

Charlotte vs. Emma

Emma is wearing Bayley’s shirt and headbands, wrestling in them. Charlotte seems to have no direction right now, probably because she should be on the main roster. She goes to a headlock that Emma breaks with a head scissors. Charlotte comes back with some knees but Emma strikes with some kicks. The crowd is very anti-Emma which shows that going against Bayley is the way to turn a girl heel. Emma gets aggressive with some stomps and targets the leg of the former NXT Women’s Champion. She even slams Charlotte’s face into the mat hard. Charlotte fires back with some shots but Emma goes back to the knee. All of it looks vicious and smart. She applies a really good looking half Boston crab, or Maple Leaf if you want it to be a tribute to her trainer, Lance Storm. Charlotte makes it to the ropes and then stops the leg work with an athletic move. She goes to a necbreaker and spear for two. She connects with Natural Selection to win.

Winner: Charlotte in 5:40

Really good match here. The leg work was well done and looked great. Emma looks to be finding herself in this heel role. **3/4

Bayley is out now to show sportsmanship to Emma and they hug. Aww. Bayley doesn’t let go of the hug though, hitting the Belly to Bayley and attacking until Charlotte breaks it up. She takes her shirt back as well.

We are going to get a contract signing between Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch tonight. Now we see a vignette for Becky, which is pretty cool. They even address her old Irish dancing days. I love that NXT doesn’t insult their viewers and act like that gimmick didn’t exist.

An interview airs with Kevin Owens, conducted by Michael Cole. He asks why Owens turned on Sami Zayn back at R-Evolution. He says it was to be NXT Champion so he can provide for his family. Cole looks for trouble by saying that he doesn’t believe it isn’t just about the title. He asks if Owens would have done the same thing if someone else was champion. Owens gets upset that people aren’t talking about him being champion, but instead they just talk about what he’s done to Sami Zayn. He brings up the fact that Cole has yet to congratulate him. Cole congratulates him and apologizes. He then brings up how Sami was Kevin’s best man at his wedding. Owens gets pissed and says he won’t give Cole what he wants as a journalist. (He uses that term loosely.)

Bull Dempsey vs. Rhyno

This episode was going so well but then I saw Bull Dempsey. “Rhyno’s gonna kill you” chants. Bull is like Diet Rhyno, with far less talent. They trade blows early until Rhyno hits a belly to belly suplex. Rhyno is up and hits the Gore. That’s a wrap.

Winner: Rhyno in 0:58

Standard Rhyno squash here. Too short to rate. NO RATING.

Rhyno grabs a microphone and says that people call him an unstoppable force, but they say the same about Baron Corbin. Rhyno challenges him to a match at TakeOver.

Backstage, Sasha Banks looks at a photo of Fabulous Moolah, calling her the best Diva ever until she came out. She cuts a promo on Becky Lynch, saying that she made her and she’ll make people forget about her.

Cut to William Regal as Uhaa Nation walks in to sign his contract. We then go to a video of him arriving at the Performance Center and talking about his dreams. We are told he’s coming soon.

We are supposed to get Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson but Enzo and Cass never show up. Their theme even plays twice. Backstage, we see that Blake and Murphy have taken out Enzo and Cass.

Time for Michael Cole’s interview with Sami Zayn. Sami says he’s not a liar like Owens so he admits it’s personal. Cole asks if he’ll be able to focus on the NXT Title. Sami says that’s the reason it’s personal so focus is not an issue. Cole brings up the Best Man stuff again, saying it’s gotta be eating him up to not know. Sami admits that drives him nuts. He invites Kevin to the ring next week to find out the real issue. No fighting since the match is already signed, but he wants to know the truth. He tells Kevin to be a role model to his kids since he’s a great family man and tell him why he did what he did.

Clips are shown of Sami Zayn challenging John Cena for the United States Title on Raw this past Monday. They discuss his injury.

William Regal is out for the NXT Women’s Championship contract signing. Becky Lynch comes out first, looking lovely. Same goes for Sasha. Before signing, Becky grabs the microphone saying that she’s been working for this since she was 15. She talks about her prior jobs and sacrifices, which are worth it for this title shot. She claims she didn’t come here to take part, she’s here to take over. Sasha declines Regal’s pen, because she has her own stamp which she uses. “Like a Boss” chants come around. Sasha throws the contract at Becky and attacks her. She steps on Becky’s head on the table and raises the title high. When she goes to attack again, Becky locks in her armbar and Sasha taps out.

Alex Riley cuts a promo from his home, I think, about his injury. He’s pissed that fans chanted “Thank You Kevin” when he got powerbombed. He’s also not pleased with how Sami Zayn is featured more than him. He says we won’t be seeing Riley for a while, which I can get behind.

Devin Taylor interviews Dana Brooke. She disses Devin’s body and is pissed that she’s not featured in the TapOut commercial, while Charlotte is. Ooh, this girl is looking for trouble. She says she will run circles around Charlotte.

Hideo Itami vs. Tyler Breeze

Both of these guys will compete in a Number One Contender’s match with Finn Balor at TakeOver. Finn is at ringside in a suit. These guys are no strangers to each other, having worked a ton, including at the last TakeOver. They go through a feeling out process, trying to get the advantage, which is tough since they know each other so well. A “Breeze is basic” “No he’s not” dueling chant starts. He bides his time outside, which gives him the upper hand, but Itami fights back with a running knee. After a commercial, Hideo toys with Tyler and wipes his boots off on him. Tyler rallies a bit, earning a near fall. He chokes Itami with his boot in the corner, breaking at the count of four. I have some power issues at my home, causing my system to reboot so I miss some of this match. When I’m back, Breeze has a headlock in that Itami fights out of. Hideo winds up with a series of kicks before sweeping the leg. He hits a running knee in the corner before flying off the top with a clothesline. The crowd wants the GTS but things go outside. Itami goes after Breeze but hits Balor instead. Inside, Breeze misses the Beauty Shot and Itami wins with the Shotgun Kick.

Winner: Hideo Itami in 9:00ish

As usual, these two have good matches. This wasn’t their best, but it also wasn’t their worst. Solid work here. ***

Post match, Tyler Breeze goes on the attack, but Finn Balor pulls him away. As he looks at Hideo Itami, we get a mix of “No” and “Yes” chants. Breeze supermodel kicks Finn and then lays out Itami with the Beauty Shot.
