411’s WWE NXT Report 5.13.15

May 13, 2015 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

Welcome to another NXT Report!

The show opens with a recap of John Cena’s US Title Open Challenge that was accepted by Sami Zayn two Mondays ago. The focus is on Sami’s injured shoulder but we are then told that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will be face to face tonight.

Baron Corbin vs. Solomon Crowe

Solomon Crowe attacks quickly, so Baron Corbin responds by crushing him. He throws Crowe into the corner a few times and is getting some boos. Good. I think there’s a great heel in Baron. He slams Crowe’s hand into the mat hard and seems to enjoy giving out a beating. Crowe comes back with a loud shot followed by an enziguri dropkick. He hits a high knee in the corner and high kick. He springboards in but is caught in the End of Days.

Winner: Baron Corbin in 2:04

Longer than usual but still too short to be really good. There seems to be potential for a solid match if given time. Fun for what we go though, mainly due to Baron heeling it up. **

Baron Corbin’s celebration is cut short by the arrival of Rhyno. He calls Baron the “other” unstoppable force. He wants to know if they’re going to do this, so Baron hits him and they trade blows until officials comes out to break this up. It’s a fun brawl and while similar to Corbin/Dempsey, is better since Rhyno is pretty cool.

There is a tag team match tonight pitting Hideo Itami and Finn Balor against Tyler Breeze and Adam Rose. We get a pre-taped interview with Finn where he’s asked who he would rather face for the NXT Title if he wins. He says that he will win and it doesn’t matter who wins because the Demon is coming.

The same question is asked to Tyler Breeze. He is appalled that they say “if” he wins and not when. He calls the other two guys “flavor of the months”. It doesn’t matter who the champion is to him either.

Non-Title Match: NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks vs. KC Cassidy

Before the bell, Sasha Banks cuts a short promo saying that Becky Lynch got lucky last week. Sasha gets pulled into a rollup and backslide for quick near falls. We don’t get the name of the jobber so she gets “black shorts” chants. After a quick breather, Sasha is in control, hitting the double knees in the corner. The crowd changes to short “KC” chants but that is still not accurate. Sasha steals Becky Lynch’s taunts, like she would do to Charlotte. Bank Statement hits and that’s a wrap.

Winner: NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in 2:21

Fine work here. I think Sasha Banks is the best all around female performer in the WWE. This was an obvious short squash but was entertaining. *1/2

Devin Taylor interviews Charlotte and Bayley. She asks Charlotte about Dana Brooke’s comments towards her last week. Charlotte is all like “this bitch isn’t on my level”. Bayley brings up how Emma stole things from her, leading to talk of Bayley and Charlotte vs. Dana and Emma at TakeOver.

Another Uhaa Nation vignette airs.

Alexa Bliss vs. Carmella

They start with some shoving before we get some quick near falls trading. Carmella hits a suplex before moving to some knee strikes for two. As Carmella applies a leg scissors variation, Blake and Murphy stroll out to the ring. Alexa fights back, hitting some running forearms. She hits a front flip arm drag that looks bad before a moonsault knee drop for two. Carmella with an ugly drop toe hold into her submission finisher but a distraction from Blake and Murphy cost her. Twisting splash off the top from Alexa ends this.

Winner: Alexa Bliss in 3:37

That was pretty bad. Both girls are still really green and they looked very sloppy. 1/4*

Alexa Bliss blows kisses at Blake and Murphy as she leaves. They enter the ring with Carmella, prompting “NO MEANS NO” chants from the fans. They run down Enzo Amore and Big Cass, so Carmella smack talks back to them. She actually gets the fans behind her which is surprising. According to her, after Enzo and Cass beat them next week, the only word to describe them is S-A-W-F-T SAWFT!

We get the interview with Hideo Itami. He says he’ll win the number one contender’s match and he wants to face Kevin Owens because he doesn’t respect the NXT Title, so Hideo doesn’t respect him.

Devin Taylor now interviews Emma and Dana Brooke. They accept Charlotte and Bayley’s challenge for TakeOver.

Adam Rose and Tyler Breeze vs. Finn Balor and Hideo Itami

Hideo Itami and Adam Rose start us off. Rose backs him into the corner but Itami fires back with some loud chops. Tag to Finn Balor who enters with a slingshot stomp for a near fall. He ends up sending Rose outside before we go to commercial. Returning, Balor hits a dropkick for two.Rose rallies and knocks him outside before tagging Breeze. He gets in some shots outside before they move in the ring. After some corner kicks, the tag goes back to Rose who snaps off a suplex for two. More quick tags from the heels before Tyler grounds Finn. They continue to work that good old fashioned tag formula. Rose hits a spinebuster and when Finn kicks out, he turns it straight into a Boston crab which was sweet. Finn reaches the ropes, only for Tyler to get in a cheap shot. Sleeper applied on Finn but he busts out and nails the Pele. He makes the hot tag to Itami, who comes in and cleans house. He hits his tornado DDT on the top rope and a flying clothesline to take out Rose. After some kicks, he hits the hesitation dropkick on Tyler. Finn blind tags in and they argue. Slingblade connects on Rose before the corner dropkick works on Breeze. Finn goes up for the double stomp and Hideo tags himself in.Hideo goes to pin Tyler but is pulled into a small package.

WInners: Adam Rose and Tyler Breeze in 9:03

Really well worked tag team match. They didn’t try to do anything out of this world but worked tag formula well and the dissension at the end not only built towards TakeOver well but also made sense. **3/4

As Hideo Itami and Finn Balor argue, Tyler Breeze takes both guys out with kicks. He celebrates with Adam Rose before taking him out with a Supermodel kick and standing tall with his selfie stick.

After more clips from Sami Zayn vs. John Cena, we go to comments from Zayn. He says he felt something click in his shoulder during his entrance but when he got the back suplex from Cena, it felt like it popped. While he isn’t sure what the extent of the injury is, he claims it’s not going to stop him against Kevin Owens.

We are told that the Bayley/Charlotte vs. Dana Brooke/Emma match for next week is official.

Sami Zayn is out for the face to face with Kevin Owens. Owens comes out too and Sami instantly tells him that this isn’t about attacks or anything like that. He just wants to know why Kevin did what he did. He knows there’s an element of truth to the excuse Kevin has given but he knows it isn’t the whole story. Owens doesn’t say anything so Sami asks if it’s because he got to NXT first or if it is about the fact that Kevin’s son would rather wear a Zayn shirt than an Owens one. Owens goes to respond but decides against it and instead walks out. A “Cry Owens Cry” chant breaks out. Sami is pissed that Kevin has nothing to say and begins to yell at him. Kevin gets to the top of the ramp and says that everything Sami said is irrelevant. He knows that Sami left after losing the title because he hurt and is still hurt. He knows what the injury is, how he hurt him and he’s going to do it again next week and this time, Sami isn’t coming back.
